Since I am using Serato Scratch Live with SL3, two turntables and an old A&H scratch mixer, I've decided that the best transition from Scratch Live to DJ is by adding a controller, and that one is the DDJ - SP1 mentioned in the title.
Since I haven't mapped anything complex till now I am having trouble mapping the rotary knobs: effect panel and browsing files for example.
The knobs are assigned to the proper activity, but the values are random for effects, go to a maximum(or maybe minimum value) if I use the scroll button and if I were to assign for example the endless rotary button to pitch control it would take maximum and minimum values only.
I am using at the moment a Windows machine and plan to change it next week for a Macintosh.
So can anyone help me with what I need to do for this controller to work with Scratch Live.
'till I can fully use my set up on Serato DJ I would like to practice and get comfortable with this controller using my current DJ software of choice, Serato Scratch Live.
So pads and load/activate effects it's not enough for me.

To solve this (on a Mac at least, unsure of the software for PC but process would be the same), download Midi Pipe and Midi Monitor.
Midi Monitor will show you the midi data and channels that the DDJ-SP1 is sending. Turn the knob, and make a note of what CC channel the course data is on.
Midi Pipe is then used to change the CC information, so Scratch Live gets the right information. Open Midi Pipe and select the DDJ-SP1. Next add a 'Midi In' onto the right hand side. Next, add a 'CC Converter'. On the config, select the CC Data and the channel the course data is on, then, on the right, select 'Note Off'. This will convert the CC Message to being a Note Off message.
Next, add a 'Midi Out' and select DDJ-SP1. Now when you turn the knob, Scratch Live should only use the fine data. Copy this process for each knob by adding a new 'CC Converter' in Midi Pipe, save the preset in Scratch Live and all shoukd be good.
